Warentrenner is a speculative design project that reinterprets a seemingly mundane everyday object: the supermarket divider at the checkout belt. While traditionally used to create clarity and efficiency, this redesigned version — with its jagged, aggressive edges — intensifies the symbolic act of separation. It reflects a distinctly German cultural tendency toward order and structure, questioning where courtesy ends and rigid division begins. In this way, the divider becomes more than just a functional item — it becomes a critical commentary on social boundaries and personal space.
